The UNSW Medicine Clinical Mentoring Scheme (CMS)

The UNSW Medicine Clinical Mentoring Scheme (CMS) is an important strategy to assist medical students in Years 3 through 6 develop their clinical skills and confidence as they progress through the degree in preparation for their internship and beyond. Mentors share their professional knowledge, skills and experiences thereby enhancing students’ learning and development, career confidence and employability.

The CMS aims to connect current students in their clinical years (Years 3 to 6) with a broad range of clinicians whereby each mentee establishes a range of goals that they work to achieve with the support and advice of their mentor. Students gain valuable insights into the world of medical practice in hospital and other settings, focus on their personal and professional development as well as reflect on their course progression and develop career-ready skills.

 

UNSW Career Discovery Mentoring Program

The UNSW Career Discovery Mentoring Program provides students with the opportunity to discover  potential careers through a mentoring relationship that facilitates greater self-awareness of skills, knowledge, experiences and attributes.

The UNSW Career Discovery Mentoring Program connects UNSW students from their second year of study with established industry professionals, providing students with a significant opportunity to focus on their career development.

Over a 5-week mentoring period, students will receive guidance from mentors and gain knowledge of industries and sectors, career options,industry trends, workplace culture and dynamics.

Students will also gain insights into their skills, knowledge, values and attributes, as well as reflect on their experience and learn from the experience of mentors. The program provides the opportunity to build personal and professional networks with mentors and fellow mentees.

Enable

The ENABLE Engineering Faculty Mentorship program. Program in a structured 6-month program where you will be connected with another academic for face-to-face conversations on mentorship, career self-management and other related topics of interest. The Program aims to connect early-career academics or new academics to UNSW with a more senior academic member in the Faculty of Engineering. 
   
 As part of the program mentees can expect to develop professional skills and networks, learn from other academics who want to share their expertise, experience and industry knowledge, explore potential career paths and jobs you may never have considered and find out what people actually do in different academic roles or where their career path has taken them.
